Yes but in practical terms her employment doesn’t change. It’s an arbitrary label attached to her role.
It could be called ‘super awesome’ band. Makes no do difference.
It’s only even a debate as it’s NHS. Private sector this wouldn’t even be an issue0 -
This happened in Scotland years ago, embrace the change!0

Since the pay rise Band 1 has gone from 15k to 17,500k, the OP is certainly not on NMW (my per hour rate is pennies short of £9). The top of Band 2 is 18,100, and in 2021 will be 19,300.
I don't see the OPs problem, apart that she can no longer treat the catering and cleaners as lower paid underlings.0 -

I didn't say I am on NMW and would not treat anyone as "lower paid underlings."0 -

I read band 1 staff would be upskilling to band 2 which doesn't make sense as the jobs will stay the same. My team are not happy as we are now on the lowest band. I can't find anyone talking about this anywhere.
With reference to your last post, what exactly IS your issue?
You stay the same, nothing has changed for you, and those lower paid people get a bit extra in their pocket.
Why are you unhappy about being in the lowest band? Is it just a psychological thing?0 -

I'm sure you wouldn't, but you used the word "we" rather than "they" when you said your team thinks there is a stigma about being on the lowest pay band.
Personally I find the whole pseudo-military hierarchical pay bands concept rather silly, but people who work in the public sector clearly feel a need for this sort of thing.0 -

I completely agree, my point was unless the union(s) are opposing this change, there is nothing she can do and should just get on with her job or look for something else.
Public sector workers have often spent years trying to rise above the basic grade, so when having done this, they find themselves arbitrarily back on that grade, they are often resentful. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
