Hi All,
I went BR at the beginning of October :j , as I am renting and have been for the past 2 years, can comeone tell me what might happen to the security deposits that I put down? I did not include it in my SOA because I forgot and I have a meeting today with my landlord and I am worried that the OR has taken it.
Thanks

Sorry I dont know anything about this but doubt it has been taken as you are still living there and if you moved, you'd have to pay it somewhere else. Not sure though.

Why would the OR take it? Isn't a security deposit given to your landlord? This should have nothing to do with your bankruptcy at all - mine didn't.BCSC Member 70:j

Thanks for the replies, I'll see what they say.
Just one more thing:
1. Do I have to tell them why I got into so much debt, can I fabricate a story i.e got caught out in property developing?
I'm assuming it is none of their business?
Thanks0 -
Hi Stubie, if you mean do you have to tell the Landlord, then i'd guess not. Make up a story to make your BR sound daring and interesting..i was an undercover spy working for MI5, while i was away beating up the baddies someone stole my ID and ran up huge credit card debts blah blah blah!!
If you mean do you have to tell the OR why you got in so much debt, then yes you do! and be honest, he won't accept a story about being 007The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter

Our landlord didn`t bat an eyelid... allshe was interested in was are you all ok and do you need anything. She`s an old farmers wife who doesn`t really understand things these days. I think she had visions of us all being carted off to the workhouse - bless her!
