in Cutting tax
If my shares have risen £10,000 since purchase and I have received dividends of £1,760 in 2018/19 and I wish to sell them, do I need to complete a self assessment?
I am on PAYE. Assume no other income or capital gains in 2018/19.

I'm no expert but id say no. You have not exceeded your CGT allowance for the tax year and divis received would be within the allowance..are you in the basic rate tax band??Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

There is no "allowance" for dividend income.
It is quite possible for someone who is liable to the dividend nil rate (commonly known as the Dividend Allowance) to actually have an extra 20% tax to pay (based on the amount of dividend income) simply because of having the dividend income in the first place.
Without knowing more about the op's circumstances its impossible to know if there is extra income tax to pay or not.0 -
I am returning to full time education in January.
For 2018/19 my income will be £11,700
Savings income £2,240 or thereabouts
No other income gained or benefits claimed.0
