Possibility of getting a mortgage when on long term sick?

Hi, first time poster here. Currently going through a split with my partner which will result in the house we share been sold. Any advice regarding the possibility of a mortgage for myself would be appreciated (I realise my chances will more than likely be slim given my circumstances).
I have been off work for the last 6 years and am unlikely to return to work due to a serious illness.
I am still employed (I assume my contract terms will still be full time).
I receive a monthly wage paid by employer (I have payslips) by virtue of the fact I was admitted to the company’s long term disability scheme (Group Income Protection Policy). I believe this is paid until I am either fit to work again, am sacked or reach age 65.
I also receive Personal Independance Payments from the DWP.
Would any lender consider me for a mortgage given my circumstances? Would it be more appropriate for me to find a specialist broker rather than go direct myself.
Appreciate any help you can give. Thanks

You need a broker to look into this and match you to a lender"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Thanks. Appreciate the advice. I thought that could well be the case. Is this something any broker could help with or are there specialists under such circumstances? I realise you can’t give names etc.0

Find a local broker, you’ll probably pay a fee. But find one who only charges on mortgage offer.
I think this could be placed subject to other criteria, affordability, credit checks etc being satisfied.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
