I have a small choclate grater. I grate the cubes and they always dissolve. X

This is how I deal with oxo cubes - open up the little flaps at either end, but don't break the foil. Put the cube on the worktop and flatten it with the heel of your hand. Open up the foil, the cube will now be just powder and dissolves very easily in hot liquid.

That's supposedly the 'official way' of using Oxo cubes .

I've had to stop using Oxo's as they're NOT Gluten Free - had to go to Knorr / Tesco's Own / Asda's Own / Kallo ............... they all take a bit of stirring, but do eventually dissolve - especially in the SC.
  • I just crumble the stock cube directly into the pan of bolognaise/soup/etc and add the hot water separately... Saves washing the measuring jug!!
  • Thanks everyone. Some great suggestions - including a use for the mini grater I once bought and have often thought of adding to the charity shop bag as it has never been used!

I'll have a look at the Better than Buillion too. We have a home in the US so are out there several times a year. I hadn't thought of bringing any back (although I trail just about everything else back:o) as the ones I bought from Costco were actually cartons rather than concentrate. They were the easiest option ever, open and pour - I'm just becoming lazy in my old age!
