Solar: Grid meter behaviour when generating from solar

Hi everyone
I've solar panels since June. I've always noticed something that has bugged me with the setup.
My generation meter works as I'd expect. Solid green light when not generating anything and blinking once per watthour generated.
My grid meter's LED is off until I pull anything from the grid, again blinking one for each watthour. However, it behaves the same way when I am feeding the grid. Is this normal?
I've been taking meter readings on a regular basis but I have no idea if that is my normal usage or not. Consequently, I don't know if my grid meter is actually charging me for the power I'm feeding in! I haven't got a smart meter (I'm waiting for the 2nd gen meters to come around).
Thanks,
Matt.

Hiya, although very rare it is possible that the meter is reading export, and possibly adding to import, some Siemens meters do this.
Have a look at the FAQ's (see my auto sig) section 4a.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.
For general PV advice please see the PV FAQ thread on the Green & Ethical Board.0 -
Thanks, I'm not sure what meter it is so I will check tonight and report back.3.5kWp 12-panel PV system, south facing.0
