Expenditure before remortgage

Options
Stupid question I know but I need to ask:

Fixed rate ends in January. Looking to renew mortgage for better rates (and add partner to title/mortgage) so new credit checks etc. We're also looking to renovate the master bedroom but I don't whether it's better to wait until after remortgage, or do it before.

We have the cash to pay for it outright (but have been offered 0% finance deals if we wanted to do so).

Any thoughts?

Consult a broker. Explore the options. LTV may influence the rates available. Paying down the mortgage could prove beneficial. I'm sure the bedroom can wait a little while.
  • Thanks. It's not urgent, but at the same time, my partner would like it done sooner rather than later. We're going to get quotes for fitted wardrobes (and probably new carpets). Everything else, we will sort out ourselves (painting and decorating mainly).

We will be at 73% LTV if we used house price at last "remortgage" (just switched to a new product with same company), but house prices have gone up locally and even conservatively we will be 70% LTV.
