Interesting development re Win A Luxury Country Home

Just wondering if anyone else received the following email and what people think of it.

Win A Luxury Country House (50 Min London) The Facebook page is still up but the Eventbrite site just has a 'This event has ended' message. I would include links but don't think I can as I've not been on the MSE Forums for very long.

A Message from Win A Luxury Country House:

Dear Ticket Holder
Since our last message to you explaining the postition regarding the competition, we have been accused of a running a scam and purely holding the competition as a money making exercise which has deeply offended us.
With these comments in mind and to stop any future allegations plus to prove that this was never the case , we have decided to cancel the competition and refund every ticket holder.
However we would like to thank all of you that did support and believe in our competition.
In the next few days you will receive a message from Eventbrite confirming the refund information.

  • I think you could be right although last week they sent this email ;

    Dear Ticket holder
We would like to thank you for your interest and entry into our competition to win our house.
Unfortunately we did not reach anywhere near the required amount of ticket sales needed to offer the house as a prize.
We have also received a very large amount or free entries by post and we are now in the process of organising all the entries for a draw to win a cash prize as stated in the Terms and conditions.
Once we have organised the entries we will pick a winner by a randon number generater and inform the winning entry by email plus publish the details on the website, this will take place within 7 days of the competition finish date.

We wish you the best of luck with your entry .

Crikey, someone running a money making exercise is offended because it has been said they are running a money making exercise.

If it was not money making they could just have given the property away, no need to sell tickets then (or keep any proceeds from ticket sales).

Wonder if they will be refunding the postage costs?
We have also received a very large amount or free entries by post
  • It made me laugh too but I'm not sure going off in a strop is part of the T&C's. :rotfl: I also wonder how they will pay all the associated costs if they do refund.
I will wait to see what happens re the postage.
    The plot thickens!
