Removing cup ring marks

Hi all
I wondered if anyone had any wisdom on how to remove cup rings from wood furniture

    Mayonnaise is sometimes touted as a winner if they rings are lighter than the wood, or a fresh walnut.

  • I second the mayo or some olive oil.


    Give the ring a very gentle rub with some baking powder toothpaste, then pop the mayo on. Leave for ten mins and wipe off.


    Repeat as required. The mayo should help draw the water out.

    Cover the marks with a damp tea cloth and then iron them. There's a video on YouTube that shows how to do it.

    I know it sounds all wrong but it works.
  • Metal polish - or (and you need to be VERY careful) holding a lighted match above the mark ... probably the iron works on the same principle and is a bit easier, I haven't tried that method.

    Another vote for the iron if the marks are white. I rescued a badly damaged wood table top this way.hot tea pot some years ago
