problem with Phoenix

  • Yes I'm having great trouble with Phoenix. They should have contacted me months before my 75th birthday in September to implement my deferred pension lump sum/drawdown. They ignored my request for progress. Only after my IFA pressured them did they admit that they have a major IT problem and I received the preliminary forms for the Application after my birthday. Returned immediately. Raised a complaint because I need the 25% lump sum now. Received a letter today that their complaints department have looked into it for four weeks and have given themselves another four weeks before I can complain to the Pension Ombusman.
The value of the pension pot will have fallen with the markets since the original due date, so I will be offered less than it should be. This is a disgusting treatment and will lead to a claim from my solicitor.
  • I followed this link and it did indeed seem just what I want at present. I've downloaded the transfer forms and sent off the request. I like the fact that the monies can be held as cash but still hold the 'pension' label.
