Negative equity

Has anyone ever negotiated their negative equity with the bank directly themselves. Particularly the Halifax? I have spoken to a company who do it for you but there is a 4K charge, the Halifax are saying they will want it all, but I saw a thread on here that is now closed of a guy who said he did it himself. Thanks

I wouldn't waste 4k paying someone to do it for you. Either Halifax will accept it or they won't.
If you have 4k to waste throw it my way; better still offer it to the Halifax as (part) payment of the negative equity.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Post up the link to this thread as I am sure there was more to it that just asking to write off negative equity.
Also what is your circumstances, numbers and any defaults you have against you.
I am with silver there....dont pay someone £4K to try and negotiate for you when you owe money to lenders.0
