Buying from a catalogue

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone on here could clarify or share experiences on buying from a catalogue.
I have seen an item that does not seem to be available on the high street.
I recall someone telling me that once you order from these catalogue sites (Littlewoods, Additions, ...), they open up a credit account for you and send you their catalogue. Also, you need to spend a certain amount with them per year.
Can anyone please confirm?
Thanks.

Hi
I only buy from these catalogues online because you can get a good bargain with the discount codes available(beware of littlewoods though)
I pay by card so i havnt got an account but i know you dont have to spend a certain amount each year
I have been sent an empire stores catalogue because i have bought things from there and i have an account number with them but i pay by card each time
I ordered from additions the other week no catalogue was sent paid by card etc
I hope this helps what catalogue were you thinking of ordering from0 -

Thanks for your quick reply. I was thinking about Additions. So there's definitely no minimum spend? And they don't keep sending you catalogues?
Have you got any experiences with C/S or returns (just in case)?0 -
I bought some curtain poles a few weeks ago i used a discount code and paid by card the only problem i had was they sent me an e mail with the discount but took the full amount out of my bank
I rang them up and said i will cancel my order they said no need to do that we will apply discount now if i remember it was £10 off plus free delivery
I dont know anything about returns but i think its free returns most catalogues are and some collect from your house so you dont have to send it back
look on the discount codes thread and search additions or on hot deals

Additions Direct is part of littlewoods group, (my sis works for them) There is no minimum spend, unless you are using the 1st order code for £10 off and free delivery, which the min spend is only £10 anyway, returns are free and you can request returns online or by phone, i have been with Littlewoods for a few years and have not had any trouble with returns, as for them sending you catalouges just tell them you dont wish to receive one.:beer:0

I have noticed that the item is available on Littlewoods and Additions. I know they are basically the same, but has anyone got any preference who to use (customer service, etc).
One other thing, I read before that the £10 or £15 off your first order is only if you order a catalogue from them and open up a credit account. I am a bit unsure about whether to use these discounts as I have read the issues on the other board about Littlewoods (and Additions as they are the same company). Some people had to pay back hundreds...0
