  • You can buy a Nintendo Switch. Myself and 3 other people did while I was there at 9.30am this morning. They had just 2 more left in stock.

You are correct Switch and Xbox one are in the picture in the leaflet but not on the list.

So got myself £200 off a switch. Their games are overpriced though, so need to work out how to get some cheap games.

Thank you! That’s fab! Now fingers crossed they have one in stock!

So I have a different problem with the double up vouchers. Sainsburys is now Sainsburys Group - covering the supermarket itself, Habitat, Tu and Argos. I cashed in my vouchers intending to spend them on lighting at Habitat - because the 'you *can* spend on this' - clearly states lighting, as well as things like haberdashery, curtains, bed linen etc. .....................

......................... So I'm now thoroughly cheesed off as the Nectar points I've been saving all year for house renovation things have been cashed in for no reason. Anyone else have this problem?

This is a Sainsburys supermarket promo - nothing to do with other Sainsburys Group brands. I kinda thought that would be obvious, but perhaps not.

Just used £50 of points doubled to £100 in store.
Was given this as two £50 vouchers.
Spent the lot on Taste the Difference wine.
    No problems.

I managed to get my Nintendo Switch but was only able to get £100 off as the customer services person said I could only use 2 (£50) vouchers per transaction. I’d hoped to swap £85, making £170 off. That didn’t sound right but I didn’t want to argue the toss with a queue forming behind me. I’ll just use the rest of my points later in the week on a game for the switch or TTD wine. I wish it wasn’t so darned confusing - different staff seem to be doing different things if the previous posts are anything to go by.

Seems the staff member got it wrong, meant to be max of 2 x £100 vouchers, if you had asked them to try the vouchers they would found it would have gone through ok - but never mind, you got your switch and as you say can use the rest on games.... or much needed wine? lol

I'm just hoping my vouchers come through the post today - had an email to say if they don't arrive by 12th-13th to give them a call. Yesterday was the 12th, didn't arrive, so called them - 23 mins in the queue, only to be told they will arrive tomorrow (today)... hmmm... we'll see.

Either Nectar or Sainsburys have made a real mess of this year's Double Up arrangements.

We both have Nectar cards (different card numbers) and I have an Amex Nectar credit card. All the points go into a joint Nectar account so either of us can spend them. So we saved up £200 of points, and both of us doubled up to get £400 of vouchers. I checked and so long as my partner was present when he got his vouchers, and then gave me the card, I could spend them for him, but this had to be in a different transaction from when I spend my points (so we wouldn't be able to buy a £400 item for example).

We checked the stock of items that we wanted on Sunday when we did our normal shopping. On Monday I was there as the store opened at 7 am. The store opened two tills, one issuing vouchers as well as taking payment. All the guidance that the assistants had was the same leaflet as shoppers.

When I went to pay for the first trolley, only £100 of vouchers were accepted against £200 of spend. The assistant had to treat the other £100 as coupons - the supervisor came over from the Nectar till to override the checkout computer.

By the time I had gone round for the second trolley/vouchers, the store had spoken to HQ and some extra instructions had been emailed/printed out. They asked me to put through two transactions of £100 - I had lots of smaller items - but said that if I had wanted to spend £200 on one item they'd have done an override.

Meanwhile, another shopper who had ordered his vouchers online was able to spend over £100.

At this store, and from what I've seen reported online, the staff had poor or no guidance and I know some of the staff were guessing/trying to interpret the leaflet. If they 'trusted' what the checkout computer said they may have declined the spend. One of the staff quoted the 'rules' from last year to me despite these having changed. I don't think this is the assistants' fault. It's poor communication/training. If less was spent on marketing, and more on testing/explaining the offer it would have all run more smoothly.

Still, I'm not complaining. I don't see the £200 of vouchers we doubled up as 'free money' as we could have spent them at face value for groceries. But we replaced some electrical items (two of which recently failed) and a lot of worn out kitchen/dining equipment at half list price (saving £200) without compromising on quality.
    Fashion on the Ration
    2024 - 43/66 coupons used, carry forward 23
    2025 - 62/89
