Went BR on Friday...

Just wanted to let you know that me and hubby went bankrupt last Friday.
I just wanted to let you know what our experience was like and to add our experience to the collective BR pot, so to speak.
Well, we didn't need to book an appointment in advance, we just had to be at the court for 9.30am.
On arrival we were pointed in the direction of some payment counters. Ironically, it looked like a bank but that just could've been me. We stood at the Bankruptcy payment counter and handed over our forms for the lady to check over.
She then went through a checklist called The Debtors Bankruptcy Petition Checklist and asked us these questions:
Had we sought professional advice?
Had we destroyed our credit cards?
Had we been bankrupt before?
Had we owned property in the last five years?
We then had to sign the bottom of this form along with form 6.28 of the bankruptcy papers. We then had to do the bible bit and then say goodbye to our court fees.
After this, she said we had to come back in the afternoon to collect our papers after the judge had looked at our petition.
So, on arrival in the afternoon we had a little bit of a wait because there was a couple before us who had to actually see the judge and get their papers typed up. We were informed that we didn't have to see the judge but we had to wait for the petition to come back down from the court.
Finally, we were given our papers back with the top form stamped by the court and the official time of our br at 2.30pm. We were then told that the OR would call in afew days to arrange a time for an appointment and that if we had any queries or were getting annoying calls from the DCA's we were to inform the OR.
And that folks, is just about it! Alot of waiting about mainly. Not as scary as I thought and quite an anti-climax. Just feeling a little flat now, not happy or relieved or anything.
Thanks to everyone who has helped us out along the way. x
Spoke to the OR today and we have a phone interview on the 21st of this month, will let you know how it all goes.

Congratulations boofinkle. I particularly like the comment about feeling "flat" once you had your BR. We all get worked up about court , we really have no choice and need to go BR , the adrenalin is flowing , and then ....................you have a bit of paper. I dont know what I expected (fireworks in the sky.......cheerleaders...........brass band ????) but it never happened.
Good Luck with OR interview .BR 08/09/2007 /DISCHARGED 11/04/2008

Thanks for the post.
I felt flat afterwards. I think its all the worry and awful expectations of what might happen, then it doesn't.
Hope all goes well with the OR interview. The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter0 -
Well done Boofinkle. Thanks for letting us know how it went. Hope the OR's appointment goes just as well for you.
Take care.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0
