Is someone liable to Stamp Duty if they take mortgage on and remove ex's name from the deeds?

Unmarried, bought the house last year together, ex is buying me out of mortgage.0

If joint owners are unmarried and not in a civil partnership when they transfer an interest in land or property from one joint owner to another then you may have to pay SDLT.
There is a few examples there, find the one that best fits your situation.

With respect, that all seems very clear.
So, if your solicitor is struggling to understand then perhaps there's some missing detaiFeb 2008, 20year lifetime tracker with "Sproggit and Sylvester"... 0.14% + base for 2 years, then 0.99% + base for life of mortgage...base was 5.5% in 2008...but not for long. Credit to my mortgage broker0 -
