Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone can help me? I received a letter today from Ruthbridge, a debt collection agency telling me I owe £1600+ on a loan with Cahoot.
I have never had a loan with Cahoot in my life.
Is this just a scam? Should I contact them of just ignore this letter?
Thanks in advance.
Sarah

It's very unlikely to be a scam. They are probably searching for someone with a similar name to you.
Check your credit files to see if anything appears there.0 -
If it were me, I would send them a prove it letter, categorically stating that you have never had a loan with Cahoot.
And welcome to the forum

Check your credit file to see if anything has been taken out fraudulently in your name? Clearscore, Noddle, Experian and MSE Credit club all offer a service for free.“It is not the man who has too little, but the man who craves more, that is poor.”0

Ruthbridge are a large Debt recovery and tracing agency, it will not be a scam.
Either, you are the victim of identity fraud, your name has been mis-traced, for example it could be someone with a similar name and/or address as you, or its an old account you have forgotten about.
Further speculation will not give you a definitive answer, so you should send the provit letter as advised, which can be found here :
