Strange Halifax rule

We are currently going through remortgage as fixed rate is up.

I receive child maintenance for my son and my partner pays child maintenance for his son. The payments are ironically the same and my partner has less than a year to go and my son's father has two years.

My broker has informed us that Halifax are taking 100% of what my partner pays but only 60% of what I receive even though they are the same.

We are less than 50% LTV so shouldn't have an issue but it just puzzled me

Many lenders are similar. They are just erring on the side of caution.

why have you chosen Halifax?

They not a good retention lender, their rates are higher for smaller mortgages.
