Using a CC and the fear

I've just ordered a new credit (debt) card and I'm really in two minds about using it. It makes sense as I'm spending the money in the supermarket so the associated points are a bonus, but I definitely have the fear about using it! They've given me a stupidly high credit limit too which will be reduced as soon as I set the card up once it arrives.

29 months interest free & bonus points sounded great when I applied. But the reality of using it for "stoozing" which was my initial plan suddenly don't seem like such a good idea.

I got myself into a load of problems in the past with credit cards and I am not going down that road again.
You can have results or excuses, but not both.

Thank you for all your comments, it's good to know my irrational thinking is normal in the circs :D

The direct debit has been set up to take full spends.

I am also working to a strict budget. Normally food shopping / petrol is paid in cash so that money is staying in the bank to pay the bill.

The limit is only £450 and I will not be spending more than £200 pm on the CC.

Having had a bit more time to get used to it being in my purse, but not used again yet, it was good to take stock about having one. The responsibilities it entails and the way it will be used.

Yes, I could easily go and max it in a month or two, but I know the only reason I have it is to build my history/future and get the mortgage. Once that is done the card will be retired or probably used to get petrol every other month; my goodness the price of petrol isnt good is it! A story for another thread :D

I have no interest in putting car repair bills on it as I have my budget for that, I do not need it for emergencies as again I have my budget for that.

I do have hope that the very near future will soon be on my doorstep and then all the fun starts with house buying lol. But that will (hopefully) be a story for 2019.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.
