Out of curiosity what do you regard as safe?
No intention of mirroring your trade.0 -
In this context, something that doesn't lose money during volatility?
I'm intrigued by such a question. What do you regard as being safe?0 -

Gilts, cash and behind these, blue chip corporate bonds. Experienced too much (in my working career) to assume that anything is safe when investing.
There again volatility is normal. Markets should reflect actual company performance, e.g. actual/forecast profitability, orders, sales, customer loss etc. Not simply be a bell weather for the amount of cash sloshing about the financial system chasing a safe yield. Buying something because the price is rising isn't investing.
Bogle created Vanguard decades ago. Now it's become a fad. As does anything which generates an easy to make return and dominants the horizon. Sucking in the next generation of investors. Who know nothing different. Trackers in certain sectors are potentially in danger of becoming the market. Rather than responding to the market. Which could make for interesting times ahead. As robotic trading kicks in to maintain weighted positions.0
