Email just received from a highly computer savvy pal:
A big update to Windows 10 is imminent
It has deleted files for some users
Make sure your backups are up to date, make them daily if necessary

October 1809 update did not delete any files on my PC. The update is available now if you go to settings and update. Be warned it takes as long to install as the Creator update!0

The new version that should not delete files has now started to roll out to insiders and general release should follow.0
