Boots.com and Paypal Problem

Hi,

Not sure if this is the right board or not, if not, could a mod please move?

I placed an order on Boots.com on 31 October, and paid with Paypal. The money went out of my Paypal account, but was marked as 'pending'. The order was supposed to be delivered by this Thursday, so I just left it, thinking they might accept the payment when they dispatched the order.

This morning, however, the money has gone back into my Paypal account. Paypal is showing it as the payment being reversed. I have emailed Boots to ask, and received an automated mail saying it would be answered within 48 hours.

My Boots.com account is showing that the order is in progress, however. It says that it is in the warehouse being packed. I'm not sure what to do now! Does anyone have any experience of using Paypal on Boots?

Thanks in advance :A

I used my debit card 3 times on boots.com in the last fortnight and the money ALWAYS goes back into my account a couple of days after placing the order and goes back out again a couple of days after receiving it. I know it's not PayPal, but it illustrates that they do do this regularly.

  • Thanks for the replies :)

Echo - my next step was ringing them, there was an 0845 number on the Paypal page. I think if I don't get a response from the email, I'll give them a bell.

Baby_J - I wish! That would be quite handy, free Xmas presents!

Polly - Ah! Hopefully that's what they're doing here. It's a bit confusing, giving me the money back only to take it again in a couple of days! I'll keep an eye on my account, see if it goes back out again.

Did they physically take the money or just "ring-fenced" it?

I did a paypal order a couple of months ago as had a code, they ring-fenced the money for a few days but didnt actually take the payment until a couple of weeks later. Goods didnt get despatched but stayed at the processing stage - when I phoned them they said it was awaiting authorisation by the pharmacy - lol it was for 3 toys!!

Gone back to using my usual card as never have any problems that way.
  • I placed an order with Boots on 30th October and paid via paypal, first the payment was pending and the funds went from my paypal account and then yesterday they went back into my account but this evening I have received an e-mail from Paypal to advise me that the payment has now been processed and my order should soon be on its way from Boots.

Hope my experience puts your mind at rest although my delivery date is expected to be tomorrow which I really can't see being met and I would say that you can probably expect a delay too.

Still at least I bagged 2000 Boots points (hope you did too).

Hi, I had a similar thing but I hadn't noticed they had put the money back in. Then 3 months later they took the money out so I thought I had paid twice but when I checked back I could see what had happened. It's a strange way to do things because I thought I had more in my paypal account than I had.
    Boots and Tesco tart!! :heartpuls
