What I would like is to be able to nicely send an email telling them that this would help me greatly and I also feel that as this is harder for me than it would be another member of staff, which may be a potential issue if I were to press the matter (call it a warning shot as well as a last ditch attempt).
All you need to do is the first bit! I cannot believe you have got angry, called ACAS and all these things without ever actually asking properly with your reasoning.
You don't need to add in your silly threat either. Just ask like a professional person!0 -

I just read my op and realise I omitted that I have been asking for 3 years. When I previously had two monitors I worked with less issue.
My requests have all mentioned this.0 -
Is there any reason why you have to print the documents? Can't you just switch between programs on the computer to get the information or have the two programs side by side on the screen.
It may be slower than having two screens but i don't see why you would need to print. Even if the programs run full screen you can still switch between them quickly.
Because it’s slower and I want to do my job as efficiently as I can. The two windows open for some reason doesn’t work on the programs we use.0 -

Your first point of call should be Occupational Health (or HR if there is no OH dept).
If no joy there, you should speak with your union health and safety rep or shop steward.0 -

Both points already addressed...I want to try one last bash at making them do the right thing before I go running to the union- I find the union can be abrasive in their approach.
...
I have seen OH, they have made some recommendations but I have got worse since then.0 -
But you asked for something. That is a request. And you were told that when the budget allowed, you could. What happened for other people is irrelevant. You did not say that you needed help because you were in pain due to your arthritis. You did not ask for an OH appointment to discuss your needs for three years! And what you had in your previous job is not relevant. Take some responsibility here. If you had approached this very differently at any time in the last three years, you would have been in a better place now.
Oh, I totally take responsibly for that. I don’t want people to perceive that I jumped the queue because of my problems and I was happy to wait along with everyone else. But not to be passed over and to see people get given them ahead ofme, simply because I make less fuss.
I think if I am really honest, this is simply the straw that broke the camels back. You know, when you are sick of people taking advantage of your good nature as you see always the one that will help.0 -

OP says they have got worse since seeing OH last. Therefore first point of call should be OH again. If no joy then the union. Sometimes it takes an abrasive union rep to get an employee what they are entitled to. However if OP prefers they take a softer approach then they should discuss that with the union rep. It is OP’s case after all.0 -

Hopefully you have now sent a much firmer e-mail to your employer, making it clear that you need this equipment and need it soon?0
