After the first rise in SP age, I should have been receiving my SP this month, but now won’t get it until March 2020. I did not mind the first rise, it is the extra months that have been now added that bug me. I’d like to hear from men born on my birthday who now have to wait until 66 and how they feel.
I think they would be justifiably most upset as, if your retirement date is March 2020, you will be around 65y9m. Them waiting until 66 would most unfair ;)

The only problem with the equalization of ages is that I can no longer tell my sisters that they are nearer to official old age than me. One is 11 mnnth younger the other 4,5 years younger than me.

It's a typical Guardian nonsense piece.

    A total load of cobblers.

The woman gave away her money to her children and is now complaining she doesnt have enough.

I'll help mine, but only after I know I have enough to live on.

Well, it would have been more than the odd fiver if it was enough to help pay for their house deposits !

No sympathy. She knew well in advance that she wouldn't get her pension at 60, yet still chose to dole out money to her sons.

Would love to know what area that comment would apply to, or her version of small amounts is a lot different from mine, because anything without 4 noughts on the end in most places in the UK would not be a lot of help!

    So you retire between 2026-2028?

I can collect the SP in 2028, but I'm already retired.

I applaud the woman in the article for working, renting out a room and looking to economize by using a bike. The issue I have is that she hasn't managed her finances very well. She's an example of someone with the resources to be very comfortable, but she hasn't invested or managed her money in a sensible way.

It would have been good journalism if the Guardian had used that woman as an example to give advice on good financial planning.
