in Cutting tax
I have registered for self assessment but when I start to file I am told I cannot use the HMRC website for a non-resident filing. I read that I have to buy special software.
I usually use an agent but my claim is very basic. I have 10,000GBP left in the UK in investments and other than a bank account that is it. I pay 300-400GBP every year to file this tax.
I haven't lived in the UK for nearly a decade. It's a bit annoying having to pay this paperwork to be honest so any way to make it more efficient would be great.

Order of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker

I use TaxCalc. I think it costs £30 a year and does everything for you including the foreign pages etc if you need them.
Been using it for about 12 years now. Every year you can copy over the old one as a starting point and just quickly change the numbers. Very Easy.0 -
I used TaxCalc in the past and it works well. I switched to ABC SA since it's cheaper and it works well too.0
