Am very new to entering competitions. Have entered a few on Facebook and twitter but not won anything so far. Looking on this forum I see there are lots of other types of competitions. Just worried about the implications of giving out my dob e.g fraud etc, and to a similar extent home address. Has anyone had any issues giving out this information /any bad experiences? Thanks.

Only bad experience is junk mail so watch the tick boxes0

I always make myself a year younger so my DOB wouldn't work with identity theft. Can always blame fat fingers!Worse things will have happened in the world today..."The only thing that really matters, it to love and to be loved."0

I use my correct details but do not enter many that require postal address anyway.0

If a comp is posted on MSE it is usually OK to enter, and as previous posters have said, Spam and junk mail are the worst that can happen so watch for tick boxes.
Also:
1) If a field is not compulsory - don't fill it in.
2) Signing up to emails when it is optional doesn't increase you chances of winning.
3) Scroll down on MSE to see if later posters have said they suspect the comp is dodgy.0 -
I've been comping for decades and have always used my correct details. I've never had a problem.0

Thanks everyone. Guess I'm overthinking it. Time for me to get entering then 0

On the subject of personal details, does anyone have any experience of the process of having their details removed-from sites/searches? How do you go about it?2018 wins-12wins0

Starlight - best to open a new a new email (hotmail/gmail etc)specifically for entering competitions. You will end up with a lot of newsletters etc from competition providers and this way it will not clog your 'normal' email.0
