Mortgage with First Direct

Hi everyone
So I am a first time buyer (residential mortgage), after doing several research and looking around. I found first direct to be the cheapest. I would like to know:
If there is a change in my circumstances, does first direct allow/agree for you to temporarily rent the property.
Has anyone been in this situation with first direct, I know most banks allow it but I’ve been told first direct don’t. Is this true.
