Over a weekend makes little, if any difference. Some capped fares over week are slightly different. Contactless is less hassle i.e. no Oyster Card to get and put a deposit (refundable ) on.

You just need to use the same card - don't touch in with one card and out with another!

Huh? I was told it was now the same fares for Oyster and contactless bank cards. Is that not right...?

If you have a railcard you can get this associated with an Oyster card to get lower fares and daily caps. You cannot do this with a contactless card so this could affect your decision.

    No it’s not quite right.
There is a weekly cap for contactless that doesn’t exist on oyster, but this won’t affect you over a weekend.

  • thank you all for your replies, I have an Oyster card from previous visits so might just use that, so that I am not going in & out of purse in unfamiliar places

A tip: When I know I'm going to be using the tube/buses I put my contactless card in my (now unused) oyster holder. No need to open my purse and no confusion as to which contactless card I tapped in with.
