since when is gmail fake?

Had quite a few comps recently tell me my @gmail.com is a fake email and won't be accepted, though it goes through with @googlemail.com wondering if I should start putting the long form regularly ???

I would say, use what works. Though I didn't realise that you could use @googlemail.com instead of gmail.com - there is something for me.

I have just been told that my mail.com email is invalid. maybe we are all supposed to own our own domain names and use email from those? I guess some of their automated email checkers are set a little bit too 'secure'.

I wouldn't count on that. I've had websites refuse to use my personal domain email because it ends with .scot
