No record of my account?

Ok, so this has become so frustrating to deal with now. Bit long winded sorry.
I had a card with Barclaycard some years ago at a previous address - along with a bunch of other debts that all defaulted whilst I was unemployed. Everything else went to debt management companies. Barclaycard stayed at “late payment”.
Over time agreements were set up for all the companies, except Barclaycard, as one day I called and they couldn’t trace my account...? I found it odd but assumed they’d eventually contact me as they had my up to date contact information. The account basically got forgotten about.
Fast forward to six months ago and I was able to pay off my outstanding debts. I signed up for the different credit reference agencies, got my reports, made my phone calls and cleared everything off - yay! - except Barclaycard, as they can’t find me.
All 3 credit reference agencies have the debt as still in my old address. All 3 have the same figure, and account details. All 3 show Barclaycard as the debt owner, not another company.
I’ve called. I’ve emailed. Short of writing to them I have had no luck, because when I get in touch they tell me that they have nothing under my old email, postcode or telephone number. The account seems to no longer exist.
It’s not 6 years old yet, and even once it is, it won’t just cease to exist. I’d rather have it gone, but it seems they don’t want my money. It’s only for £700 or so, so it’s unlikely it’ll ever see court action (or it would have been done by now), and I’m not hiding as I’m up to date with contact information on all the credit reference agencies. In fact I’m trying to chase THEM to arrange to pay this LOL!
Is there anything I’ve missed? I know the address on the account because the CRAs confirm this, but I don’t have the card number (acc no) as I don’t have any this paperwork any more. What else can I possibly do?
I want to ignore it, but it niggles at me that it still exists.

Hi,
Its either been written off by BC as unrecoverable or it was sold on and whoever bought it deemed it unrecoverable, or perhaps they have just "lost" your account, nothing would surprise me with BC.
SAR is a good idea, and should tell you something.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I'd suggest raising a "dispute" through one of the credit reference agencies - they should have a link to make this easy for you. You can explain that the debt is showing on your records and you want to repay it but the lender cannot find an account for you.
If they're still reporting it as a debt then someone in the bank knows what it is.The credit reference agency will have a point of contact in the bank to raise this with.0 -

I agree with that.
I would also suggest that a 'Notice of Correction' could be placed on the CRA file while awaiting the outcome of the dispute.
There are ICO guidelines as to when an account should be defaulted. Once the default is registered with the CRA then six years later the whole file will be removed.
If you stopped paying this Barclaycard at the same time as your other debts (post #1) which have now fallen off your CRA file, then there's hope that you can get Barclaycard to default you with a retrospective date.
This may take time and end up as a formal complaint to the FOS if Barclaycard don't resolve the issue within 8 weeks of your complaint to them.

Thank you I’ll get in touch through the CRA and then try a SAR directly with BC if that doesn’t work out. I’ll post if there’s any further update.

Is it worth trying the customer relations (i.e. complaints) team at Barclaycard rather than the ordinary customer services.
I'm only guessing, but they might be able to make a bit more effort or have more facilities to find it.0
