telescope for skywatching ( small & Light)

I want a telescope with a stand for my husband, to watch the night sky, it needs to be small & light cause I have to take it abroad and excess baggage would be v expensicve

Anyone out there with knowledge of these as we are novices

    Buy a decent pair of binoculars, a large telescope is required to get the light in the end to make the images brighter the result is they are not small. the smaller ones will be more portable but you can get as good a result with a pair of bino's.

    Some can be attached to a tripod as well if thats what your looking for.
