Transfer Pension to NHS scheme ?

Hi all

Need some advice i have managed over years save £15k in pension work schemes i recently had them all placed into one pot and now have started working for the NHS and the scheme is very attractive in employer paying in 14.8% a month should i transfer my existing pot into it ? or should i start paying additional top up each month into that pot on-top of my NHS work scheme ?

  • Suggest you fill in the forms as soon as possible to transfer your existing pensions into the NHS and see what you are offered.

You can then come back on here to ask whether it looks like a good deal before committing yourself to a transfer. Posters have previously reported generous terms.

You could transfer and then set up a separate private pension to drip feed into on a monthly basis - useful if you subsequently decide to retire earlier than the NHS/State pension age.

The NHS scheme is a defined benefit scheme, so the employer's contribution at any given point is totally irrelevant. You'll get the benefits promised by the rules of the scheme. Make the most of it!

But remember the restrictions on subsequent transfer out to a DC scheme.
