Just for info - in case any of you are asked this again - or, sadly, face the same dilemmas - The Energy Company sorted out the electric and gas in a fairly straightforward way, BUT I HAD to put it in MY name. Likewise, with the Boiler Cover.
This means, of course, that I am now liable for all payments, problems, etc.
I really don't think this is right, especially since I'm the one with the least money....0 -

I've never come across this - all my MIL's utilities, insurances other bills are in her name.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
If you don't have a POA then if you do have to sort something & they accept you sorting it then it becomes your responsibility & no longer the original persons as they are not in a position to accept that responsiblity.0
