Santander Mortgage Approval

Hi,
Just after some advice on the Santander mortgage approval process.
After a lot of hassle with a rubbish broker and a purchase previously falling through we've gone it alone and found a new property and also sourced our own mortgage and went with Santander via an online application.

Experience has been quick and efficient and today we've had the following email from them:

We can confirm that your application has been approved by our Underwriters.

Next steps

1. Confirm your identity
We've posted you a letter which contains an address verification code. Please enter this code in the 'Confirm your identity' section of your application tracking page, if you haven't already done this.

We'll provide you with an update on the progress of your application once these steps have been completed and we've received the outcome of the valuation checks.

Am I right to presume that our approval is subject to valuation, once that's done and it's all OK we'll get the mortgage offer?

Just a tad confused and don't want to celebrate it's all happening if it's not.

Thanks!! :)

  • I am in the same process.

I got the same email although for me it was subject to the valuation report rather than identity check (i had already done that part).

I have just received notification that my offer has been issued and sent to my solicitor.

So I think you are there!

What documents have Santander asked from you? I only got asked for a payslip and proof of my annual bonus. Nothing else!
  • Hre you need to visit
  • I think they will still be doing valuation checks as I did message online and ask are they visiting the property to which they replied they’re doing it remotely through automated valuation.

The identity thing should have come by now as we applied well over a week ago so we shall see.

Docs wise we had payslips for the last 3 months, P60 and confirmation of payment on a credit card payment which cleared it a few months ago so that’s it.

I’ve been impressed with it all and glad to compare that I’m on the home straight!

Hey, I am currently seeing the same thing and we wanted to know how long did it take for the letter to arrive and what were the next stages after that.
  • Hi @Ahmed202: I believe they also send a copy to your Solicitor or conveyancer. Check with them if they have received it or not.
  • Hey @mortgage1st How long did you letter take to come?
  • @Mani_London do you reckon this means they have done a hard check on me already and when can you tell?

Hi @Ahmed202: Hard checks are done when you make a full application. in some cases i have noticed on this forum where some individuals have said Santander done an extra hard check before giving a confirm offer as well.
