Advice on exchange/completion

Hi all,

We are close to the conclusion of a purchase. Once my solicitor has completed his report (which he says will be ready this week) we are in a position to exchange.

The estate agent called today basically moaning that we are delaying things now (This is the first contact from them in about 3 weeks despite me providing regular updates) and telling me the vendors want to exchange and complete within 2 weeks.

We have a holiday on 19th October - 1st November. Completing after this date would allow us to have another extra payday to have more money for things for the house so we would prefer to complete once back as we also don't like the idea of getting a house and going away straight away.

Is it unreasonable to push for a completion date for when we are back from the holiday?

When you feel comfortable to complete you complete, just let ALL parties know what is happening so the house doesn't go back on the market in the short term.

This ensures the solicitors know which date they need to pull the money from the banks funding.

This also ensures everyone is happy with the outcome. However, you may encounter some differences with the sellers.
