Making Jewelry

Hi has anyone made any jewelry?
I'd like to make my bridesmaids a necklace each with a red crystal heart on but as one is an adult and two are little children i want them to be proportionally sized for each hence wanting to make my own. Has anyone ever done this and if so can you give me some advice.
thanks

That's quite an open-ended question. I have made a swarovski red heart pendant on a piece of black leather thong with sterling silver findings on the end. It was very easy to do, and of course easy to make to the appropriate length. I also make my own beaded jewellery which entails using a piece of nylon, threading Swarovski beads and then steling silver findings on the ends again. If you wanted to make sterling silver chains however, there's a lot more involved. I recently went on a weekend silver-smithing course with my best friend. I had no idea what I wanted to make, and came away with a sterling silver pendant which I'm very proud of. Some other people already had a set idea of what they wanted to make, so you could always enrol for something similar. Bit pricey, though... Let me know if you want any more info.0

I would do a search and find your local bead shop. They will sell all the bits and pieces that you need and you will be able to buy individual beads/hearts in various sizes. Somewhere like this

The tiny beads, seed beads, are sold by the scoop or weight but you will be able to buy smaller quantities of the crystals. You will also be able to get wire fastenings etc. Hope this help. Let me know if I can help more

You could make this for the adult then simplyfi it by using less and smaller crystals for the children. It really is simple and your shop will help you with it.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0 -

I have made pendants for each of my bridesmaids and although they are different ages I made them all the same size but altered the length of the chain.
I found some sterling silver chains on ebay and spent about £10 for all 3 girls necklaces including the beads and am going to put some on wires in the bouquets to co-ordinate them.
The shop I got the beads from is http://www.beadinguk.com/catalog/index.php?osCsid=ee2ed1b4b31a4f5289579d7465a36e75
who charge a reasonable amount for p&p and have a huge choice. Not sure if they will have what you are looking for but they delivered really quickly and their prices seemed in line with everyone else.
Hope that helpsOfficially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

thank you all, so sorry not to reply sooner. I'm still going to make the necklaces though and will use all the advice that you have given me.0
