I lied and I am confused about my new employer seeing my p45! Help!

Hi, I am new here so I am sorry if this post doesn't go here.
Anyway, I have been unemployed since April and had no luck landing a new job. I decided to sign up to a temp agency, although i never actually got sent on a temp placement.
The thing is, as soon as I signed up I put it on my c.v assuming that the temp placements would roll in, in the hopes that it would show prospective employers that I was still employable. I ended up getting an interview where I lied about doing temp work as it was the one job where I sent off my c.v to them with the temp agency on it. I am not proud about lying but I was desperate.
Now, the place I got an interview at offered me the job and they want me to give them my p45 for tax purposes. My p45 dates back to April from my last job. Its just, as I lied about doing temp work I'm worried that my p45 will 'out' me. I don't know much about p45s which is why I am asking here.
What if they remember I mentioned the temp work and ask if I have an up to date p45? As my p45 is dated April and obviously won't show my none 'tax earned from my temp agency'. And then what do I say to that? Do I say I'm still signed up to the agency and haven't left (which is true) and so won't have a p45? Do i send my p45 back to HMRC so my employer won't see it and just have to accept that I'll be emergency taxed for a while?
I hope that when I give them my p45 they won't even remember I mentioned a temp agency and will just fill it in and send it to HMRC, but stressing out is in my nature and I really shouldn't have lied.
Any help would be amazing right now!!!

There is no legal requirement to provide a new employer with a P45.
For a variety of reasons not everyone will have one, lost in post, dog ate it, bad previous employer, first ever job etc etc etc.
That's why there is an alternative. New starter declaration form. Ask your new employer for that, complete and return it to your new employer. Job done.0 -
Yeah I’ve never given a p45 in ive always put them away and just completed a new starter declaration form.0

As above - ask for a new starter form. Keep your mouth shut about your lie - no casually mentioning to a mate in the pub what a relief it was that you didn't need to produce a P45 or whatever.0
-
Even if you wanted to give your p45, only one that is in the current year is relevant.
There is literally no point in giving last years.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
My p45 is this financial year.0

If you want to avoid any possible risk of your new employer seeing your P45 details just completing a new starter checklist is not the way to go. This will just delay the details getting to your new employer, HMRC will send pay and tax details ( in this case nil ) along with tax code shortly after you start.
To avoid this you need to contact HMRC, instructions about this are given on part 2 of your P45.0 -
Whatever you do do not tell the truth. I was sacked in the past and only got another job when I left it out my CV and filled in a P46. Every time I was honest, no employer gave a toss about listening to your reasons. Honesty doesn't work in employment, you gotta do what you gotta do.0

I would think most employers who found they had been lied to by an employee would seek to terminate that employment. Lie at your peril! If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
I would just say you don't have a P45. It is common for people not to have one or to lose it.
This may mean you get put on an emergency tax code and pay more income tax than you would have otherwise needed to the next few months. But you should get that income tax back through PAYE over time.
If that causes you financial problems over the next few months you'll have to chalk that up as the cost of lying. At least paying more tax is better than not having a job.0 -

Its not imperative you hand them the P45, do as suggested and say you lost it/misplaced it/dog ate it/licked it so you destroyed it.0
