Hi - I am trying to help my sister whose husband died very recently. He was in receipt of a pension from Stanhope Trust ( previosly GEC 1972 scheme) at the time of his death. On the basis of what you say about the Pension Ombudsman then I'll contact the pension scheme again and ask the suggested questions regarding the nominee form and also whether he was ever contracted out of Serps. If by some miracle they agree to pay the pension I'll post back with what they say.
