halifax application experience advice

hello
I wonder if anyone can tell me what there experience with this was. I'm driving myself mad trying to decide what to do for the best. I'm person 2 in a house buying chain of 4. my buyer is a FTB. my onward purchase is all but ready to go to exchange, but my buyer hasn't even got a mortgage offer yet. they had an admin problem on their credit file which has taken about 5-6 weeks to sort out, they have submitted an application via L&C to the Halifax on the 17th of this month. they have only told me this as I was threatening to go back on the market because they were ignoring my contacts. so he has sent me a screen shot of the progress so far, which looks like very little to me, so I was just wondering if anyone else had used this company to get a Halifax mortgage so I can try and work out how much longer this is likely to take.
the status says ..."is currently undergoing initial assessment by their underwriters..."
all thoughts gladly received.
