P45 - Submit to State Services?

I am the founder of a very small startup in London.
I have hired a new employee.

Do I have to ask him for a P45 (from his former employer) only to know what I have to subtract from his salary from taxes?

Or this document should also be submitted to the state/government services to serve other purposes too?

So you need to follow the links for registering as an employer with HMRC, but there is a whole heap of other stuff you either need to know, or find out fast!

for example, have you seen proof of this person's right to work in the UK?
