Conveyancing Charges for Transfer of Equity

Hi all,
Can anyone please give me an idea of how much a conveyancing solicitor would charge to carry out a transfer of equity?
I'm currently looking around at remortgaging but don't qualify for the free legal fees because I need to remove my ex's name from the mortgage.
If anyone can tell me roughly how long it takes (how longs a piece of string right?!) and how much it costs I would be most grateful.
Trying to work out my finances and would be great to know what sort of figures I'm looking at.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

It's going to depend on the solicitor you decide to instruct and where they are based and the amount of work required. Freehold, or leasehold any second charges etc.
Best guess, £350 - £600 for the transfer of equity on top of the remortgage cost.I am a mortgage broker. Hi Kingstreet,
Many thanks for that. It's a freehold property and I have no idea of the work involved. Just trying to get all my ducks in a row
Have a good afternoon

Another question (probably a silly one!), but do I have to pay for surveys etc when I remortgage? or does that come included with the fees for the mortgage?

Erm.....I've started looking around but haven't decided on one yet. Some have cashbacks which might be worth considering yes.The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart....0

There are products with and without fees and with and without cashbacks where you would meet the legal costs.
It's just a question of establishing the options which suit you best then finding the right one from them.I am a mortgage broker.
