Quick Quid Reclaim and Credit File

Dear Forum Members

I am hoping someone can help with advice please. I think I may have done something rather stupid, apart from getting involved with payday loans in the first place.

I had a number of payday loans with Quick Quid. I believed these to be unfair so made a complaint to the company who did not agree so went to the financial ombudsman. The upshot of this is that Quick Quid made an offer of settlement through the ombudsman which in the interests of getting the matter quickly sorted I accepted, this is where I think I might have made a mistake.

The settlement was in relation to three loans, I had more than that and one of the others was in default. I hadn't worried about it until recently as there were no loans showing on Equifax but looking at Experian yesterday it looks as though some loans including the default are showing on that credit file.

So I suppose my question is - is there anything that I can do to repair my credit file. I am thinking of asking quick quid to remove them as all loans are considered unfair in the first letter from the financial ombudsman to QuickQuid, would I be able to re-open the case with the ombudsman under the original complaint or can I make a new one in relation to the registered default.

Many thanks in advance.

    Quickquid should of done this.

Write and tell them your unhappy your credit file has not been updated as it should, ask them to remove the entries as per the original compliant.

Escalate to the ICO if necessary.

This is where I think I may have done a stupid thing. The settlement was offered in relation to three loans, the complaint was for more and included one defaulted. I was keen to have the matter settled so accepted not checking that the defaulted loan was included in the settlement (it isn't), although it was listed on the first letter from the ombudsman to QQ saying they thought it was unfair, the settlement offer came after that letter.

I am going to write to Quick Quid to say please take these off the file but wondered if I could re-open with the ombudsman or open with them a new complaint in relation to the credit file.

    Much thanks for your help

Hi there and welcome to MSE,

    CROSS POSTS

You need to look carefully at what the terms of the settlement were. If it was agreed that the creditor would remove the entries completely from your credit file and they haven't done so, then you could go back to the ombudsman and ask them to reopen the complaint as it hasn't been resolved as agreed.

However, if there was no mention of removing the entries, they may not be obligated to do so, and just need to mark them as partially settled with a £0 balance. If the 4th loan wasn't mentioned in the original complaint, you would likely need to open a new one with the creditor first and then escalate to the ombudsman if necessary.

  • Thank you Laura

The problem is my mistake the fourth loan was mentioned on the original complaint, the settlement which I accepted was in relation to three other loans, I didn't check properly before accepting.

The fourth loan was mentioned in the letter from the ombudsman to Quick Quid as in their opinion unfair, this was prior to the settlement being offered.

Is there anything I can do?
