Removing Ex from mortgage in his absent

Is it possible to remove an ex off joint mortgage in his absent.
My solicitor has sent numerous copies of paperwork to his h/a but he never signs or returns them. This has been going on since beginning of the year.
He has verbally (via text) agreed to come off the mortgage but that's all.

Hasn't contributed to mortgage or childcare since 2009..

If he doesn't contact them can I go to court without him present and remove his name as completely stuck

Threat of court is your only option when faced with intransigence.

has the lender agreed to a sole mortgage in your name only?

I'm guessing "yes" and that's the paperwork which has been sent, but maybe OP can clarify.
