Mortgage for expat moving back to UK.

I'm an expat living in the EU and will be moving back to the UK with my family in the next 18 months.
The plan is to get a property in the UK before we move in order to get our kids into schools.
At present, we can get a mortgage as an expat quite easily since we UK citizens getting paid by UK companies into UK bank accounts.
However, I believe we won't get a great rate on the interest payments since we are abroad now.
Does anyone know if we'd be able to remortgage to a better deal once we move back and are UK residents?
Many thanks in advance.

Just thought I'd add that I would be happy to get a broker to work with us on this, if they knew the expat options.0

Broker is your best bet. We did similar after we had been outside of the UK but kept our accounts going. We had a mortage within 6 months, although that was due to having no probabtion period. Rates were standard, no issues.0

Thank you for the advice. We'll start looking for a broker.0

I have a couple of expat mortgages going through at the moment. Both UK nationals but one lives in Germany and one lives in Singapore and paid in Singapore dollars. It is possible subject to having a UK presence so advisable to maintain a UK bank account.I am a Mortgage Adviser

Yes, one of us is paid in GBP by a UK company to a UK bank account. I have a UK LTD. company as well. I think we should be okay to get a mortgage, it's locking into a higher rate of interest for the medium to long term that concerned me.0

I can think of 3 high street lenders who will consider expat income. The rates I obtained for my clients were high street.I am a Mortgage Adviser

I used L&C for my mortgage and was placed with HSBC. I'm paid in Chinese currency and they were excellent with my case overall.0

Or take out a 2 year fixed and look to remortgage on a better rate when this ends.0
