According to Lovemoney, Asda are only charging £5, less than half Boots £12.99 fee. I've linked to the article for other prices to be checked.0

My gp has a mass clinic on a Saturday it’s bedlam ! Much easier to get it done at the chemist .
Yep. My ex rang the surgery to sort his out was told a saturday morning only. he said no and they asked why.
He told them it was chaos, left waiting around, no where to sit, being disabled had to park a long way away from the door as too many people. And he does not like crowds.
So he will be going else where. He spoke to boots and due his conditions he can get it free and at a time that suits him. So win win.
I totally understand why they do it that way to get it done and dusted. but to much hassle and upset caused by it for my ex. He has had a stroke so does not cope well with stuff any more.

No, it was £5.00 last year and Asda have hiked the price up to £7.00. I've booked my flu jab appointment for next week at Asda, it's definitely £7.00.10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j [/COLOR]:cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. If you are going to Lloyds for it beaware they dont always tell you if you are excempt , we used a local branch for 5 yrs always paying for my daughters . I had an issue with them and changed pharmacies , i expected to pay for Dd again this year but was told due to one of her conditions she was excempt !The new pharmacist was surprised we have been paying .
Don't assume just because you dont get called to the Drs that you have to pay .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I had to attend the surgery for routine blood tests last week. I asked if I could have a flu jab at the same time. Got it done.
Hubby having his done this morning, at GP surgery.
Neither of us have to pay as we are over 65.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Having just moved to a rural area my wife and I were a bit concerned about how to get our flu jabs. In the end, we booked on Patient Access; walked into our local surgery at the booked time and were out again two minutes later. No long queues of impatient pensioners (myself included). I even got a free NHS plaster to stem the flow of blood (no I am not on warfarin). Sadly, the days of a free cup of tea and a biscuit for being a good boy are now long gone. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Do you want your GP Surgery to close? Then go to Boots/Tesco/....
Well according to a national league of GP's closing, my town is on top with a possibly of losing up to 35 practices, that will effect about 39,000 people.
Considering my town is a town with a large population of elderly persons who get the free jab, the local Dr's should be cashing in as they will get paid extra by the local NHS authority for doing it.
I'm entitled to a free flu jab because an underlining condition. My local doctor will only do the jabs on a Saturday between 10.30 am and 12 noon only. Added to that my Dr. is located in my local town centre.
My local Boots is open from 8am to 8pm Mon- Fri, 8am to 6pm Sat and 10am to 4pm Sun. I can walk in there and get my jab anytime between these times. So it's easier for me to go to Boots
If the Dr practices make it bloody hard to get the jab at thier practices, I'm all for going to Boots etc.

I do understand why they are doing it. Means they don't clog the surgery up during the week and gets a mass of people done in one go.
My ex goes for blood tests every two months due to his meds. In the past they have done it for him then and there. But seems they wont any longer.
Seems a little short sighted. Why not have drop in sessions for a couple of hours at quieter times say early evening as my surgery is open until 7pm for people who don't cope with the hussle and bussle of the mass sessions.
