PILON Minus UnClaimed JSA

Hi my mum has received her PILON. When making the claim it asked whether she had Claimed JSA or not, & if not why not. We answered that it was because we werent aware that she was entitled. She has now received the PILON but it is minus JSA. There is a note on the letter that says "minus JSA which you may have been entitled to but did not claim"

A) is this right?
If this is right can she claim backdated JSA, she has been actively applying for work and could evidence that.

Presumably you are referring to PILON paid by the government because her old company has gone bust?

A) Yes it is correct. Sorry, but saying she didn't know she was entitled is not a defence. It is like saying "I didn't know it was illegal to park on double yellow lines"! Even if that is true it won't stop you getting a parking ticket.

Probably not, as far as I know. You may be better asking that question on the benefits board.
