hi all
so I sent a letter to my creditors requesting to default my account back to the start of my dmp about 8 months ago. I’ve read that everything should be done by letters. Lloyd’s are wanting to ring me to discuss it. Should I speak to them about it over the phone?
thanks0 -

hi, just a quick question about DMP. Me and my wife currently have £38k of unsecured debt. £35k credit cards and a very account. 4 of my credits cards have ran out of their 0% this past month increasing the minimum payment quite a bit. We were looking into getting a secured loan against our house for about £20k (transfering the remaining to my other credit cards which will hopefully offer me a 0% deal, i am also due a bonus over the next few months which will be going to pay something off) although im not worried about making the payments I am concerned about it being a variable rate and reviews of the broker (Fluent Money) don't look very good.
This has led me to this forum which i've been reading all morning and has made me feel a lot more positive that we can get out of this. My main worry about a DMP is that our mortage is on a 2 year fixed rate, will it still be possible to remortage in 2 years, even if its a product transfer with the same bank?
We plan on sitting down and doing a SOA tonight and I will do a proper post. I struggle to talk to this with anyone other than my wife so writing even this has been very therapeutic. Ive been struggling with my mental health for a while and its mostly due to our debt, this place seems like a good place to be open about this sort of stuff.

Hi all
So yesterday I used the website willing2Learn recommended and printed off holding letters for all 8 of my creditors (Lendable, Barclaycard, Cap One, Vanquis, Littlewoods, Very, Next and Argos). I have put in the letters I am in contact with debt charities and will not be paying for 6 months...now I’m scared!!! I felt good printing them off yesterday but today I feel very nervous to post and cancel the direct debits. I know I have to do it and I’m hoping once I get into the swing of things I’m going to feel better and maybe even get more than 3 hours sleep at night! I am still not telling my husband as I just know this would be the worst sort of betrayal to him but I did open up to my older sister yesterday and to just share the worry with her has made me feel so much better.
So I guess today is the day it all starts... well as soon as I post the letters!!! I’m just going the barrage of letters and phone calls don’t all come at once!!!
Thank you for all your support and I will be back in to update and ask more questions soon I’m sure!!!Here’s to a new start and a debt free future... even if it will be in 5/6 years time! XxxCurrent Debt- Jan 2021 - £275000 -

Just wanted to reassure anyone just starting out on this journey asI felt very anxious at that stage. My husband has no idea of my debt and I felt I would be bombarded with calls and letters.
I have just had my fourth payment taken by my debt management company and it has all gone incredibly smoothly. I sent letters or emails to all my creditors asking for no phone calls and I haven't had even one. There have barely been any letters and all my offers were either accepted or ignored but payments are being accepted and no charges or interest has been charged. Halifax and Capital One defaulted me within weeks with others about to follow. I can't believe I went through all the months of worry and even sold my jewellery before I knew this was an option.
