Everywhere I look something needs doing

Yes, it's the same here, everywhere I look something needs doing. My solution is, stuff it I can't be bothered. :rotfl: I keep my kitchen clean so I don't poison myself, my bathroom is clean and so is my body, all the rest gets done when I feel like it.
It's about priorities really, I would rather be sewing, arts and crafts, walking, days out, and enjoying my leisure time.

I think it's about priorities, we can't keep every inch of our houses spotless all the time (or at least I can't when working 9-5 and also partaking in various hobbies and interests), so it's about working out what's most important to you.
For me, it's the bedroom. I have asthma, so regular hoovering and dusting is an absolute must. I also try and keep the kitchen nice as I do a lot of cooking. The living room and bathroom probably get left a bit too long, but they are not a priority to me. And as for the spare room... it gets ignored until we have guests!Sealed pot challenge 11: number 5940 -
What also works for me is to pick up something, think 'NOW!' and put it away properly (filing, binning, shredding, whatevs).
I've just had a look at the 'a slob comes clean' website mentioned on p1 and she uses containers as limiters. So if she has a container for card making materials, she can only fill this container. If it doesn't fit anymore, she either has to start crafting or start donating/binning. Same goes for towel drawers, etc. You can decide in advance how many you(r family) need(s) and discard the rest.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
I bought my house in 2016 with my fiancee. I subsequently split with her in October 2017, and am left to maintain a 3 bedroom house + garage/gardens on my own.
Yes.... in short. It's a never ending cycle of jobs. Would a smaller house help? Maybe. I would have less space, but less places to clean up.
Despite being 28, my mum who recently retired has started to try and help me.... but I really don't like accepting help. I moved out at 18 and for many years have been living independently. I was only living with my partner for about 2 years in total, so for a good 8-10 years, I've been doing day-to-day jobs pretty much on my own..... however lately, with work and life, it's just become much harder.
It's got to the point where I have to decide between work, jobs or pleasure and often I have to ditch the pleasure part. I refuse to do that on Saturday's. Saturday's remain my day lol0 -

KITCHEN TIMER.
I am the greatest procrastinator of all time and also the most easily distracted.
I set my timer for 10 minutes and try to get a job done before it rings. It doesnt half concentrate the mind.
I also do the dot-to-dot business. Chose one spot...a coffee table, one shelf, a worktop. Sort and clean it thoroughly. Keep looking at it. Doesn't it look good? Next day choose another spot and do the same thing. Eventually all the dots join up and you have a clean and tidy room.
On another thread I was pontificating about "good enough is good enough." Someone else said that her family has a saying, "Perfect is the enemy of done." I love that.
My mother used to say that a house should be clean enough to be hygienic and grubby enough to be happy.
My grandmother use to say, "Look after the corners and the middles will look after themselves." So true.
As you can see, I am a fount of other people's knowledge.
This is all mine own.........
Above all, don't stress. Life's too short. And no one is going to stand up at your funeral and say, "She was a wonderful woman. Her floors were always spotless."I believe that friends are quiet angels

monnagran,
:T for all the quotes - regardless of where they come from each & every one of them is a pearl of wisdomAnd I notice that all of them are grounded in common sense
Siebrie, I have also started to do that - pick up an item & put it away not just shove it in a drawer :rotfl: which used to be original reaction :rotfl:
Lists are definitely my friend & I have taken to keeping paper & pen by my bed in case I think of another task I ‘would like’ to do :rotfl:
Still have loads of decluttering to do prior to eventually starting the decorating but am not letting it stress me outEverything will get done eventually & having my DH fully on board means that I am definitely more relaxed about the whole decluttering process
Shame I cannot get my DSis on board :rotfl: but I can’t have everything :rotfl:
So if we all keep plugging away we will get everything done :rotfl:

I have two lists, a 'to-do' list and a 'been -done' list and as one gets cleared the other gets fuller.
Never ever managed to clear one or fill the other one but life is far too short to worry about it
My house is relatively clean and tidy anyway as there is only me in it to make a mess:):)
Bit of dust won't kill me, whereas stressing about it may see me off .
No one on their deathbed said 'I wish I'd washed the skirting boards more'
I want to say I am glad I read that book, or played with my kids, grandkids, and as yesterday proved, my gt granddaughter aged 6 months
Life is for enjoying and if the sun is shining and the sky is blue then I will go to the park or meet a friend and natter and not worry in the least whether the ironing is up to date or the windows need a wash.
Having survived cancer and five operations to get me healthy again my whole outlook on things has changed Every day I wake up and think YES I have beaten it again, and I have the bonus of another day on our beautiful earth.
Dust will still be there when I am long gone and as long as my house is habitable and clean (ish)I will enjoy the days ,months and hopefully years I have left with my family and friends and the dust can go whistle dixie

How MSE do you want to be? I hate housework, it's boring and as soon as you finish there's something else dirty that needs doing. There are always better things to do.
If you have the money, get a cleaner. That's what I did, and oh, the sense of liberation!0
