Update Monday 24 September.
Forumites below who've received these are reporting short "best before" dates on them eg November 2018. Best Before dates are different to use-by dates (see our Free food saving memo for more info) but it's worth you being aware in case you were planning to give these for Christmas.

Hi.
I got a couple of these to put away for Christmas gifts.
They have large jars of sweets reduced £9.50 to £4.75.
I would never pay £9.50 for these though. I bought some in January reduced and put them away for Easter gifts. The contents are very good quality.

Hope that helps someone.
Official MoneySavingExpert insert Tue 18 Sep: You can get 50% off selected 800-880g sweet shop-style jars of sweets online at Debenhams – making them £4.75, instead of the usual £9.50.
The sweet jars on offer are:
• ‘I Love You’ sweets 800g incl Love Hearts, rings, pink chocolate hearts etc
• Liquorice Allsorts 850g
• ‘No.1 Dad’ sweets 880g incl gummies, cola bottles, fried eggs etc
You may find similar sweets to those in these jars for better value at supermarkets. For example, we spotted a packet of Maynards Bassetts Liquorice Allsorts 400g for £2 at Tesco, the equivalent of 50p per 100g, compared with 56p per 100g for the Liquorice Allsorts at Debenhams – though you could factor in the cost of the jar, which you can refill/reuse.
Delivery’s £3.49 or £2 to click and collect. We’ve asked Debenhams when this offer ends and if it’s also available in stores but it hasn’t got back to us yet.
Big thanks to 1974Stephen for the original post!

I would be annoyed at that although not sure where you will get with a further complaint as they are in date and they have offered you a refund if you send them back.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Oh Hi Sarah. If they are selling short dated goods, they should have advised this. These are listed under GIFTS and I am not sure when they think I would be buying gifts at the end of September to actually gift.
They wrote back sorry your items are faulty. Debenhams do check items before dispatch to check for faults but we must have missed it!
Anyhoo, the box has been put in the blue bin. So I dont have anything to send them back in. Pound shop service from them. Cheapskates.0 -

The problem is that they have done nothing wrong.
If you pop them back into a debenhams they will refund you.
I actually do buy bags of sweets for halloween so, yes people do give out jars of sweets on Halloween. Just empty the jars and put them in bowls.
Anyway its only a best before date and not use by date so can be totally disregarded anyway.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Hi. Spoke to a manager if you can call him that. I have to take them back. I am going to Lloret De Mar tomorrow and don't have time for this crap. I will never spend a brown penny in there again. Do a little Debenhams. Don't make me laugh.
