Guys I am need of some advice ASAP.

First of all I think I better list all of my debts

Credit card 1: Limit 500 Balance 696.66
Credit card 2: Limit 600 Balance 660.15
Grad. Bank Account: Limit 1500 Balance 1520.30
Phone Bill Outstanding: 70
Outstanding Uni Bills (gas and electri) : 227
Online clothes account : 700

Worst thing is I got no money to my name and I start a new job on Wednesday. Do not think I can ask my parents for petrol money because they are struggling at the moment too. I've worked out that I will need about £60 a week for petrol. As for food as lunch time, might just stick to something made at home. I have thought about asking for an advance, but I do not think it will make a great first impression with my new employer.

I have already tried for a Personal Loan and I didnt get accepted so I don't know where to get the money for this month. Then the other problem is gonna be that I will have to pay that back if I find somewhere to get it from, and that will come out of the salary I get in December which means I am still gonna be short. (petrol for 2 months will come out it)

Its frustrating, I rang the credit card guys today to tell them that I get paid on the 7th Decemnber and they keep saying that I need to make a payment this month. How many times do I have to tell them I havent got anything.

Its getting to the point where I am considering ignoring the credit cards this month (even though I've missed two payments for both cards already and will be passed on to a Debt collecton agency) just until I get paid.

If anyone has any bright ideas, I am all ears.

    Hi and welcome

Can you post an SOA for us? http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=107280

It makes it easier for us to give advice.

You have done the hard bits: getting a new job and getting to this site!

Your debts are not enormous and there will be a way to deal with them, I promise ;)

    HI

Welcome! Have you posted a SOA - might be worth listing all the incomings/outgoings so that we can see and make any suggestions that might help. It might also be worth giving someone like the CCCS a call, and seeing what advice they can give you as well.

Money Coming In (as of yet havent started the new job but here goes nothing)

    Salary £10k a year, roughly £750-£770 a month

    Money Going Out

Barclaycard Limit: £600 Balance £660.15 APR 29.9% (i think will check this)
Virgin card Limit: £500 Balance £696.66 APR 29.9 (again I will check these)
Graduate Account Overdraft LImit £1500 Balance £1518 APR 0%
Clothes Catalogue Limit £1250 Balance £700 APR unsure
One Off bills from university £227 organised payment plan £90 / month gas and electric
Phone Bill Outstanding £69.10 (contract) got about 16 months left

    Problems
Barclaycard want £53 by the 23rd Novmeber or they pass my account to debt collection agency (i told them many times got no money till 7th December)

Got no money at all and I need £60 a week for petrol to and from work. Parents will struggle to give me this. Also if I borrow off someone, then I will have to pay them out of first month's income, meaning two months petrol coming out of it.

    Anyone got any ideas

As he is working he will not qualify for JSA -the problem is that he is paid monthly so won't be paid until 7th December (It's a frequent problem for people who start a job just after the payroll cut-off date -I've done it myself-waited 6 weeks and still had to find fares, work clothes etc in the meantime).
Do you have to drive to work ? Is there a cheaper option by public transport-even if it takes longer. Or drive part the way and park somewhere free and public transport the rest ?

Okay, so I'm not going to say that you don't need to do anything, but between this and the other thread I think we've established that you're most pressing worry is making payments before you get paid.

If you literally do not have any money you cannot make a payment. What I will say is, though, that my barclaycard got passed to debt collection once. They have an in-house DCA and once the arrears were cleared it was passed straight back to barclaycard and carried on as before. I then stung barclaycard for all the charges they put onto my account during this period. Not saying this is definitely what will happen, but I don't think that the end of the world is nigh.

Right then where to start, first off I live in the middle of nowhere, so a car is the most viable option, plus I dont have to worry about parking as its on the premises of the office.

I am gonna speak to my parents again today and see what they can lend me. Obviously whatever the outcome my first months wages will be gone the moment I get them (see my approx thing below

    Salary £770
Petrol for previous month (paid back to lender) £60/week roughly 240
Petrol for the coming month £240
    Old Uni Bills £90
    Phone Bill £70
Leaves me with £130 spare for credit card payments etc. And lets not get started with CHristmas... I'm thinking IOUs lol.

I hope u lot can see where the problem is lol

Let me know if you come up with anythin.

Cancel Christmas! Seriously - don't let it worry you. Do people understand you have no cash? If they do - they will not expect anything.

You can still pop out for a few drinks with people to be social but, do as a lot of people do.......say no to the commercial pressure this year.
Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
    Sainsburys Loan: Cleared July 2010
Credit cards: AMEX Airmiles Card: direct debit set to clear balance monthly

If you only earn £10k a year will you be entitled to working tax credit? Have a look at the entitledto website and see if there is anything else you can claim.

Could you do oddjobs for family or friends or neighbours?
