Mortgare Wows

Hello All

I am a discharged bankcrupt, nothing to be proud of but i was robbed, i used to run a central heating company and an employee was stealing, he had a very high position in the company and was being watched buy the serious crime squard, the company was raided and the said person arrestead, our company was found to be not involved but the damage was done. Up to that point i was paying all my bills on time. We lost everything.

any advice re a morgage would be great as we are pulling our hair out, we have been offered a part share ownership (new build) with a housing association but am finding it very hard to obtain a morgage due to obviously my credit score and the fact it is part ownership. (we will loose this house in three weeks if we cant sort out a mortgage)

i have been in touch with all the credit reference agencys re my discharge but records are showing un satisfied, they dont seem to want to help.

Many thanks and i look forward to any reply

I'm rubbish on the mortgage stuff, but with regards to the CRF's:

Creditors can default the accounts, but it should be a single default date NO LATER than the date of the bankruptcy. The account should also be marked somehow to indicate it is satisfied/settled.

Go to the following link to see exactly how your Credit Reference Files and account info should have been correctly updated:

CREDIT REFERENCE FILE CLEAN UP – POST BANKRUPTCY

Then write the letter in the next link to their "data controller(s)" by recorded delivery.

Letter to former Lenders post Bankruptcy

If they then fail to update your account and records correctly, raise a complaint with the Information Commissioner:

How to raise a complaint with the Information Commissioner

The Information Commissioner will force them to update correctly, and even fine them heavily if they don't.

The process is a bit lengthy, but it always gets the job done.

You need to seek the advice of a mortgage broker. They have deals and offers that you will not see in the High Street.

  • Good we went to one 10 year ago and they wanted £450 before they would tell us the name of the mortgage company who would take us. We walked out and found our own.

am an independant broker, we don't charge anything, get commission instead. is a common misconception that independant= fee charging.

FSA state that we have to offer the client a fee charging option so that they can ensure our impartiality when it comes to sourcing a mortgage, funnily enough most clients like to keep hold of their money!! :-)
